Let's face it. Most of the golf swing tips amateur golfers get from books and magazines are based on the analyses of the golf swings by top professional golfers such as Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus. And the advice they get from their local golf teaching pros are based on the coaches’ experience with the so-called average golfers, i.e. the average of the pros’ prior students. But most of us amateur golfers are neither Tiger nor the theoretical average golfer. We are who we are and we are all different in age, body type, and athletic abilities. And no swing thoughts or practice drills will work for all of us.
Golfellows.com is an online platform for amateur golfers around the world to share with one another the golf swing tips that have worked for them. Before the internet age, , it was probably not feasible for any golf book writer to explain a swing thought in a way that would be meaningful to everyone. Hence the famous “hold the club with the same amount of grip pressure as one would use to hold a little bird” doctrine is still being faithfully preached by many teaching pros. But seriously, how many times (if ever) have you held a small bird? (Sam Snead, bless his soul. and hid silk smooth swing is well respected!) The major advantage of an online platform is its potential to match swing tips with a golfer's specific needs.
We intend to develop this site into a large data base of swing thoughts and drills, searchable by golfers' handicap, age, body type, and other meaningful traits. In other words, we envision a day when say, a, 55-year-old, 5-handicap, short and big, male golfer can get tips from Golfellows.com on how other golfers with similar personal traits conquered a recurring pulling problem. Obviously, we cannot make this happen on our own. We absolutely and positively need your help. Please share with your fellow golfers the swing tips that have worked for you.
Golfellows.com also has a few other sections designed to serve some other key needs of the amateur golfer community. The Book, Play, and Win section features our visitors' course management/scoring strategies they have successfully used on the golf courses around the world. Obviously, you can also book tee times with hundreds of premier golf courses throughout the US and Canada. The Golf Deal section enables golfers to share information about any online and/or offline deals, discounts, and coupons on golf clubs, balls, and other golf related products. |
