If you are pushing it is likely 1.)too much lower body movement "most common" 2.) trying to bring too much power into your upper body. If this is the case, imagine that your front shoulder is carrying your club throughout impact. You must stress bringing your shoulder through, bringing the club through, and closing the club face enough.

I used tp push the ball a lot when I frst started playing golf years ago. I tried my things to get rid of the problem. One thing that helped me the most is to make sure that my LOWER BODY DOES NOT GET TOO ACTIVE DURING THE DOWN SWING.
